Happy Campers
We are excited to go camping this summer but until we do, we thought it was a good idea to have a trial run since we've never done it with two kids before, one of them being a two year old. So we set everything up in our backyard and let the trial begin.
We recently bought a fire pit, which was a terrible idea because we love it! We may never go camping anywhere but our own backyard again because it's so convenient and fun.
Cooking S'mores
Just look at that perfect mallow Olivia roasted!
So excited to eat it!
Now that is pure happiness all over her face!
As part of potty training lately, if Olivia is dry for half the day she earns a sticker and when she gets 5 stickers she earns a prize. This time she had earned a movie and popcorn with Mom and Dad. We didn't want her to have to wait just because we were camping, so we hooked up the laptop to an extension cord and popped some popcorn.
Have we mentioned that we now have a thumb sucker? It's great! Eloise finally has a way of soothing herself other than me having to nurse her. And she sleeps a lot longer because of it! Win, win!
So everything went according to plan up until we actually tried to go to sleep. Eloise went right down in the pack 'n' play and I have no doubt she would have stayed there all night. Olivia was another story. She kept getting out of bed, climbing on top of Richard and poking him in the eye saying "Wake up, Dad!" Or she'd hear a motorcycle and tell us or hear the wind (and it was WAY windy) and comment on it. After she woke us up 4 or 5 times we decided to call it a night.
Even though sleeping in the tent wasn't a success, the trial still was. Now we know what we need to practice. And fire pit or no, we are still going camping this summer and we can't wait!

ha ha, oh the challenges of camping out! I know exactly what you mean! Nobody gets sleep. Maybe it will be better in the campground where the noise of the city is gone.
ReplyDeleteSo fun to camp in the backyard though! Especially if you don't feel like packing everything up; LOVE your firepit!
